£129.99 Weight 299g Size L (58-63cm) Colours Black; white; viper red Sizes S – XL The Ballista has been prominent in pro races, partly thanks to that bold colour, and is Bonty’s current road aero offering. With only 11 vents and a comprehensively covered EPS shell that includes a couple of louvred inserts, it’s a reasonable weight for a MIPS lid at 299g. It fits well, sitting low over the temples, and is easy to adjust for a secure, comfortable fit. On the road, airflow through three broad internal channels is adequate, but cooling isn’t exceptional and, strangely, the helmet creaked whenever we moved our head in any direction. It’s a good price for an aero lid with MIPS, but its performance doesn’t quite match its looks.
