WORKSTANDS

-

You need your hands free to work on your bike. And having only two of them means making adjustments, tightening bolts or spinning the pedals becomes difficult if you’re also trying to hold your bike upright. But not if you have a workstand. You needn’t break the bank with a full-on, bolted-to-the floor option but finding one that’s as portable and as storable as you need it to be that’s also sturdy enough to handle the bikes you plan on clamping into it is vital (full-suss MTBs and ebikes are a lot heavier than your typical road bike). Whatever workstand you choose, never over tighten any clamps onto fragile frame tubes and use a rag in between the jaws and your frame to protect the paint.

RECOMMENDED FEEDBACK SPORTS PRO-ELITE WORKSTAND £295

It costs a bundle but this workstand is rock-solid, a joy to use and will last for years. The tripod design works on uneven surfaces as well as flat floors and its alloy construction folds down to a very portable and easy to store 6kg package.

BUDGET OPTION OD DESIGNS ODPOD £36

A few years ago a World Tour mechanic asked the folks at Od Designs to build him a bottom bracket-supporting workstand that was stable and portable. The OdPod was what they came up with and since it debuted, it’s become a firm favourite with pro and home mechanics alike.
