From Peter Sagan’s shades of choice to futuristic ‘smart’ glasses

-

Ride100% Glendale £180

Look familiar? These are Peter Sagan’s chosen specs. There are loads of lens and frame options, and while the large lens lends them a retro look, these have all the features you’d expect: 100 per cent UV 400 protection; a shatterproof frame; and impact- and scratch-resistant vented lenses that shrug off water, dirt and oil.

EverysightRaptorAR £649

These 98g ‘smart glasses’ not only have a forward-facing camera that records as you ride, but if you link them to the relevant power, speed and heart-rate devices they’re also able to display your performance metrics as you ride. Wearing them means you can keep track of your ride without ever taking your eyes off the road.

Zero rh+ Super Stylus £60-£80

The Wanty-Groupe Gobert team sport these Super Stylus sunnies, which they also helped to develop. The Super Stylus glasses come with a pair of swappable lenses and you can get three pairs for the price of one of Sagan’s Glendales. There are six lens and frame options, and a variety of colours to match your kit.

ShimanoS-PhyreX1 £139.99

You won’t be surprised to hear that the S-Phyre equipment concept is ‘based around maximising power transmission 1%/,2$%!"1U!4"&$%1! and aerodynamics’. Though how much difference 28.6g specs makes to that process is questionable. More important for us is their full UV 400 protection and interchangeable, antiscratch lenses.
