BICKERTON JUNCTION 1307 COUNTRY

£449

-

If it’s Brompton’s heritage you’re interested in then this Bickerton makes an excellent budget alternative as Terry Bickerton’s original design predates the first Brompton by four years. This modern Bickerton doesn’t fold as neatly as a Brompton, and we missed the six-gear Brompton’s higher gear, but that bike costs over £1000. Like the Tern, the Junction is a comfortable and stylish ride for city streets. If anything, we think the unusual rear triangle design (there isn’t a triangle!) gives it the edge in both. As mentioned above, and in common with the Tern, the only downside is the low highest gear. Experienced cyclists will spin out on the slightest of inclines. Like the Tern, the Bickerton doesn’t fold away as neatly as some of its rivals. It does, however, match the Tern exactly for both folding method and final size. You’ll have to reset the bar height every ride as it needs to be fully extended to fold. Commuters with a sense of history. It’ll fit easily into the boot of your car for multi-modal journeys, but its folded size might get you a few dark looks on a very crowded train.
