The good news is that these female-centric products aren’t just smaller, pinker versions of those designed for men

The fact that cycling brands are really starting to listen up and pay attention to the needs and demands of female cyclists is a cause for celebration. And the best news? These women’s-centric products aren’t just smaller, pinker versions of those that have been designed for men.

With an increasing number of female riders out on the road and the rise of pro women’s teams, brands are paying attention to what women really care about on the bike, such as finding a saddle that’s shaped to suit our sit bones, and clothing that’s cut to fit the more curved shape of the female body. We want chamois pads that are designed to serve the specific needs of women and helmets that will accommodate long hair… The list is long but ultimately, what female riders want, just as male riders do, is the best they deserve in comfort and performance.

In celebration of the cycling industry waking up to the needs of female riders, we have gathered together 11 products that claim to be designed just for women. Six of Cycling Plus’s female writers and testers have been putting each one through its paces to see if they really do suit the needs of women. Rest assured, one question that nobody asked is, ‘Does that come in cerise?’
