#2 BIKE JERSEY

COST PER SECOND £2.98 TIME SAVED OVER 40KM 49-62 secs

-

Position sorted, we move onto my bike clothing and three different choices of short-sleeve bike jersey. I’m currently sporting the Giro Chrono Expert (£80), winner of last month’s jersey test, but swap into the Altura Nightvision jersey (£55). By no means is the Nightvision a bad top, but its loose fit and vast, open pockets are focused on commuting over racing. And it’s a size too big for me. The result is a massive 49secs added to my aerodynamic profile and an instant deletion of my bike-fit gains. This is quickly remedied by moving into the Santini Redux Istinto (£185, yes £185), whose tunnel-tested stretch woven fabrics, thermo-sealed seams and lean fit are 62secs faster than the Altura and 13secs swifter than the Giro.
