‘Buy cheap, buy twice’ isn’t always the case with Crane cycling products from Aldi, but it does apply to these gloves. As with most kit, it’s about intended use. Would the stitching and gel padding last for a seasoned commuter, off-road demon or long-distance rider? No, as they’ve barely survived three weeks of testing. But would they provide an inexpensive start for someone getting into riding? Probably. These gloves would have your palms covered in a crash, but they just might not be usable again. There is adequate grip and the gel pad, while not thick, did sit in the right contact points for my hands on the bar. So, if you’re looking for an introductory glove or back-up pair that costs next to nothing, this could be it. You might just have to venture to Aldi’s middle aisle to buy another pair soon after.
