KRYPTONITE NEW YORK NOOSE AND STRONGHOLD GROUND ANCHOR
£159.99/£99.99 Gold standard bike security
If you’ve dropped thousands on your bike, the last thing you want is someone else walking away with your pride and joy. This security combo is pricey, but o ers extra financial protection should the worst happen.
The Stronghold has a 16mm hardened carbon alloy steel shackle that should provide plenty of resistance to cutting discs. The shackle’s plate is secured to your concrete wall or floor with three cement anchor bolts, which come supplied with ball bearings to knock into the Allen heads, and a domed cap over the plate’s bolt recesses – you’ll need to dig this thing out! The guts of the ground anchor are covered with a plastic dome into which the shackle can recess. You’ll also get two drill bits: one for the pilot hole and one with the right diameter for the bolt. Fitting takes a decent drill, and a bit of luck dodging any steel reinforcements in your concrete, but when it’s in, it’s in…
At 1.3m long, and able to loop through itself, the Noose allows you to lock a couple of bikes to a ground anchor. The chain, with its paintwork-protecting nylon shroud, is made from triple heattreated boron manganese steel 10mm hexagonal links. Their narrow shape helps resist leverage attacks, and the chain and lock are designed to resist bolt cutters, saws, hammers and chisels.
The 14mm shackle on the padlock is big enough to lock multiple chains and a ground anchor to. The lock’s mechanism has a high pick resistance, and its crossbar is built to resist pulling and cutting.
Should your lock get opened, Kryptonite’s Anti-Theft Protection
O er may kick in. So long as the lock’s registered as per its requirements, Kryptonite could pay out up to £2,500.
