Toby Rule the latest Grey Wolf
A YOUNG member of Mackay City Central Scout Group has been presented with the highest achievement in cub scouting, the Grey Wolf Award.
Toby Rule’s Cub Scout leader Debra Rutherford described Toby as a young man with vision.
When Toby first joined Mackay City Central Cub Scout Pack in February, 2015, he boldly announced “I’m going to get my Grey Wolf ”
“And he had a plan to back it up,” Mrs Rutherford said.
This statement told her that Toby was a thinker who was going to work smart, not hard, she said.
Through consistent effort and persistence, Toby created his own path through the Cub Scout Award Scheme.
He completed all three Boomerang Challenge levels, while the Achievement Badges he has earned across all areas are focused around his strengths and the areas in which he excels.
Toby’s genuine concern for his fellow scouts and his developing leadership skills saw him appointed in the Second role and later a Sixer.
He participated in a Cub Scout Leadership Course and has used these skills to assist the leaders manage the pack.
He has been a regular attendee of and actively participated in pack, group and region Cub Scout activities and events.
Ms Rutherford said Toby has fulfilled his role as a youth leader to a very high standard, setting a positive example of respect and responsibility.
During his time in the Cubs Scout Pack, Toby has demonstrated an understanding of the Cub Scout Law and Promise. He was presented a diorama of the Council Rock from the Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book, as his resource to the Cub Scout Pack.
He also headed up a group of four other scouts on a geocaching activity through Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens as his ramble.
Toby attended Cuboree, a state-run camp, and it was one of his highlights while in the Cub Scout Section. He cut a celebratory cake to mark the achievement.
CONGRATULATIONS: Toby Rule from Mackay City Central Cub Scouts has achieved the coveted Grey Wolf award.
