Main Ser­vice at the Ceno­taph, Ju­bilee Park, Al­fred Street Sun­day, No­vem­ber 11

From 10.30AM

Mackay’s main com­mem­o­ra­tive cer­e­mony, or­gan­ised by the RSL Mackay Sub Branch on be­half of Mackay and Dis­trict vet­er­ans and cit­i­zens, will be held at the Ceno­taph at Ju­bilee Park.

Spe­cial guests in­clude Mackay Mayor Greg Wil­liamson and deputy Mayor Amanda Camm, along with in­vited guests MPs Ge­orge Chris­tensen, Julieanne Gilbert, Ja­son Costi­gan and Steven An­drew. WWII vet­eran Terry Hayes will be guest speaker at the ser­vice. Two min­utes of si­lence will be ob­served at 11am.

The Ceno­taph - Ju­bilee Park Sun­day, from 3.45pm

Mackay & Dis­trict Pipe band will give a recital at a com­mem­o­ra­tive ser­vice to hon­our Mackay pipers who paid the supreme war time sac­ri­fice. This will co­in­cide with a world­wide per­for­mance of pipers to start at 6am at White­hall, Lon­don in the United King­dom. Cen­to­taph - Ju­bilee Park Sun­day, from 7.45pm

Mackay & Dis­trict Pipe Band will give a recital to co­in­cide with a world­wide per­for­mance of pipers to co­in­cide with one at 11am in France, where the Ar­mistice came into ef­fect on the West­ern Front in 1918.

DE­TAILS: Slade Point will pay trib­ute to its fallen sol­diers mark­ing 100 years since the end of the Great War. Gather at Lam­bert’s Beach for one min­utes si­lence from 11am.
