REUNION AFTER 50 YEARS
LYN Connors shared a significant milestone with former classmates recently – the 50-year reunion of the Year 10 class of 1968 at OLMC, now Mercy College.
“We were the first Year 10 at the new college,” Mrs Connors said.
The reunion, which marked 50 years since finishing Year 10, was held on November 3 and 4.
The idea of a reunion took shape almost 12 months ago, when a small group of classmates decided a catch-up was well overdue. The organising group consisted of Marguerite Tideman, Cherry Feeney (nee Dwyer), Lyn Connors (nee Deguara), Karen Reaston (nee Shepherd), Lyn Doust (nee Cabassi) and Judy Seymour (nee Grant).
They rang, emailed, Facebooked, whatever it took to find as many classmates as possible.
“It was decided that classmates from Year 8 through to Year 12 (1966-1970) would be invited, so the task of tracking down over 90 classmates began and together they achieved a great result,” Mrs Connors said.
“Forty of these classmates came together over the weekend to celebrate.”
After an informal get together at The Residence, in The Dispensary, on the Saturday night, the classmates meet again for a brunch at The Botanic Gardens Café the following day.
“Memories and stories were shared and enjoyed by former students and two teachers Monica Slater and Judith Anderson,” Mrs Connors said.
