Telling your stories a passion for new journo

Dalby Herald - - NEWS OPINION - Shannon Hardy shannon.hardy@dalbyher

HELLO residents of Dalby!

When I asked what I should write in today’s editorial, Sam just said “introduce yourself”. So here I go.

My name is Shannon and I’m a new journalist here at the Dalby Herald.

I am a third year journalism student at Griffith University, but student life wasn’t quite for me.

Thankfully, a position was available here at the Herald that would allow me to put my skills to use while I finish up the last part of my degree by distance.

While I am new to Dalby, I am not completely new to the area.

I grew up just a 45 minute drive away in Chinchilla.

Journalism was not something I grew up wanting to do, but I am very glad that this is where I have wound up.

I decided in 2016 that I wanted to study journalism and I haven’t looked back since.

I love telling people’s stories and I know there are plenty of amazing people and stories to be found here.

My first day here I spoke to an amazing young athlete, Grace Newton, who beat her personal best high jump score by 13cm to win a medal for Dalby and the Darling Downs. I’m excited to be here.

If you see me around, please come and say hello!
