BETROS BROS WEEKLY REPORT

Dalby Herald - - LIFE | RURAL -

STONE fruit time! Early season Aussie stone fruits are in good supply now and worth a try – white flesh peaches and nectarines are quite sweet and good value, and Stanthorpe apricots are now in stock but eat only when fully ripe! Look for the “Zee Sweet” label on your peaches and nectarines – it indicates a higher sucrose content in the fruit – eat while firm, not soft, to enjoy the full flavour. Northern Territory mangoes are in between cropping areas this week but supply will ramp up again shortly and bring the quality up and prices down. A flush of late season sweet juicy navel oranges arrived this week and, along with valencias, are excellent buying at only $1.99kg. Pick up premium ‘Betty Blues’ blueberries, nature’s superfood at only $2.99 punnet and seedless melons at only 99c kg. Both North Queensland red and yellow papaws are available at only $3.99kg. Best vegie buys this week are sweet corn at four for $3, new season onions at $1.49kg, and salad staples tomatoes $1.99kg and large continental cucumbers 99c each. There are lots more bargains. Check out today’s ad in the Dalby Herald!
