Bowlers old and new play in good spirit

THE Dalby Bowls Club Mer­can­tile Chal­lenge wrapped up on Wed­nes­day, Novem­ber 7.

Six­teen teams played in the four-week con­test with a mix of new and vet­eran play­ers.

Com­mit­tee mem­ber and event or­gan­iser Keith Teakle said the new play­ers had a good time.

“The four weeks were very suc­cess­ful for the club and all played in good spirit,” Mr Teakle said.

The team from Wild River Con­crete took out first place in the mer­can­tile chal­lenge, with Crack­er­jack com­ing in sec­ond place and Grubbs win­ning third place over­all.

Brent Win­ter, from the Wild River team, said the com­pe­ti­tion was a good op­por­tu­nity to meet new peo­ple.

“It was a good night out and well worth do­ing,” Mr Win­ter said.

The Dalby Bowls Club’s next big day is the Can­cer Coun­cil fundraiser on Sun­day, Novem­ber 18.

Teams can be nom­i­nated for the Can­cer Coun­cil Day by call­ing Dalby Bowls Club on 4662 2243.
