FRUIT AND VEGETABLE REPORT
BARGAINS galore at Betros Bros this week with all your summer fruits sweet, juicy and at low prices. Kensington pride mangoes are only 99 cents each, and Stanthorpe peaches $1.99/kg. Other fruit in good supply from the Granite Belt include plums and nectarines at $2.99/kg, and sweet, juicy apricots at $4.99/kg. Cherries are now in heavy supply and are only $9.99/kg. Bananas and Aussie valencias are still cheap at $1.99/kg, and rockmelons from the Lockyer Valley have a beautiful aroma and are also $1.99/kg. Watermelons are still plentiful and cheap, and add fresh iceberg lettuce and cherry tomatoes to your salad menu this week while they are cheap. Cooking Hint! Cook your sweet corn unwrapped in the microwave for 2 ½ minutes per cob. Remove from oven (it will be hot), cut off the base and slowly squeeze the cob of corn out of the husk. The cob will come out clean, hot, full of flavour and ready to eat. Check out all the extra specials in today’s Dalby Herald and please support your local fruit shop!
