50-plus charges laid
SIXTEEN people were arrested in the days before Christmas as police closed an operation targeting the supply and use of drugs in St George.
A number of search warrants were issued on Thursday, December 20, which were executed by police from across the South Western District as part of Operation Papa Acclaim.
Police arrested 16 offenders on more than 50 charges, including supplying dangerous drugs, possessing suspected stolen property, and numerous traffic offences including drug driving.
During the raids, police found quantities of methylamphetamine, marijuana and drug utensils.
Detective Acting Superintendent Paul Hart praised the St George community for their efforts in keeping the town safe.
“Local residents continue to show outstanding resilience and determination,” he said.
