AUSTRALIAN race car driver Craig Lowndes will be visiting Dalby this Sunday to launch a new supercar in partnership with the Red Bull Holden Racing Team.
Dalby locals will be the very first to see the car in all its glory, with Mr Lowndes at the wheel.
The 2019 Commodore Supercar will make its debut at the Dalby Aerodrome, where Mr Lowndes will take it for its first test ride in front of an audience.
Promotional events such as these help put Dalby on the map, with Mayor Paul McVeigh saying they contribute to the growth of the community.
“This is exactly the kind of event that makes the Western Downs such a great place to work and live,” Mr McVeigh said in a statement.
“What a great way to start the new year! Put it in the diary now to bring the whole family along.”
Western Downs Regional Council has partnered with Holden to deliver the exciting event to Dalby and its locals.
Mr McVeigh also cited the popularity of race car driving as another reason why the event was well suited to Dalby.
“Motorsports is hugely popular on the Western Downs and I know people will be really excited to see Craig Lowndes behind the wheel of the new Red Bull Holden Racing Team car,” Mr McVeigh said.
People are expected to travel from throughout the Western Downs to see the car and its famous driver.
Last year’s car, launched at the end of January 2018, was the new Commodore ZB sponsored by Triple Eight and Autobarn. It was launched in Logan City, Queensland, at a new Autobarn store.
The star of the show, driver Craig Lowndes, says he’s excited to come to Dalby to showcase the car for the first time.
“Launching the new season in Dalby, with the amazing support of the Western Downs Regional Council, and meeting the community there will be a great start to the year,” Mr Lowndes said in a statement.
Not only will attendees be able to see Mr Lowndes in his element, a DJ will be playing throughout the day while a barbecue will provide food.
Along with taking the car for a spin, Mr Lowndes will be signing autographs along with the rest of the Red Bull Holden team.
Gates to the aerodrome open at 11.30am.
The car’s first run will begin at 1.30pm, with gates to the aerodrome closing shortly after at 2.30pm.
The event is free to attend.
