In lieu of miss­ing Easter with the fam­ily (as I needed to be over­seas for work), I took away the Easter (April 2018) edi­tion of de­li­cious. and read it cover to cover over numer­ous flights. I soon came up with a long list of recipes to try upon my re­turn. The days I had off af­ter my time away were so en­joy­able filled with cook­ing – the stuffed zuc­chini flow­ers (so easy!) and baked cau­li­flower and cher­moula roasted veg salad from ‘Salad Days’ (En­ter­tain­ing, from p 52), and the Earl Grey poached pears (Jamie Oliver, p 103) proved a suc­cess­ful and tasty veg­e­tar­ian din­ner for friends. I also cooked a be­lated Easter lunch for my fam­ily – cre­at­ing the plum and cider pot roast duck (Meat Mar­ket, p 46) and Jamie Oliver’s pretty or­chard tart (p 100) for dessert, much to ev­ery­one’s de­light (it only re­quired mi­nor tweak­ing to cater for my gluten-free sis­ter). Thank you to the de­li­cious. team for such an en­gag­ing edi­tion that kept me en­ter­tained whilst I was away, and for pro­vid­ing such in­spi­ra­tion for a very spe­cial Easter lunch – it didn’t even mat­ter that it was a week late!
