TABLETALK

1 Jessi Singh is adding to the family, with new Melbourne restaurant Daugther in Law joining siblings Horn Please in Fitzroy North, Melbourne, and Don’t Tell Aunty in Surry Hills, Sydney. The new venue, on Little Bourke Street, sees a perfect marriage of Indian and Australian cuisine, with dishes like tandoori lamb chops, ‘balls of happiness’ golgappa (above) and steak tartare in a puri pani crepe cup paired with boozy mango lassi. Settle into one of the sapphire lounges and watch on as Bollywood films flicker on the walls while Hindi tunes bop through the speakers. 2 Rise and shine. Blacklist Coffee Roasters (above) has opened its first ‘cellar door’ coffee experience in Subiaco, WA. Perch up at the brew bar where you can sip on rare and high-end single-origin coffee from crystal wine glasses, with each pour accompanied by detailed tasting notes. If one cup is never enough, they also offer an all-you-can-drink tasting menu, which extends across all blends and brew methods. 3 Sydney’s insatiable appetite for pasta continues with the launch of Ragazzi (top, right), a new inner city Italian job from the team behind Love, Tilly Devine and Dear Sainte Éloise. Drop by for Cantabrian anchovies on toast and pork belly croquettes, or settle in for hearty hand-rolled pasta bowls, from sea urchin spaghetti to Jerusalem artichoke ravioli finished with pecorino and bitter honey.

TRENDING NOW CUSTOM CUTLERY

Forget the standard silverware, high-end restaurants are swapping out the knives and forks for one-of-akind custom cutlery, specially created and tailored to the meal. EXP in the Hunter Valley equips diners with handmade wire tools to tackle their jersey milk haloumi and copper spoonulas to smear taramasalata.
