Outstanding New Business:
The judges couldn’t split Evolve Fitness and Wellbeing and River and Grain in the Outstanding New Business category.
There were 15 businesses nominated for the award.
This business was started two years ago and has already grown by 150 per cent in that time.
In the nomination form it said Evolve is committed to giving back to the Deniliquin community by supporting community initiatives and its growth is due to the commitment and professionalism of the staff.
‘‘Evolve have attracted, trained and nurtured staff that include local Certificate III & IV fitness trainers, exercise physiologist and school based trainees,’’ the nomination read.
‘‘The team continually participate in professional development, which results in continual improvement and the ability to offer clients an ever-expanding range of programs and products. Evolve currently has 10 team members who are committed to fitness and wellbeing.’’
River and Grain is operated by Leith Tweed, who only moved to Deniliquin two years ago.
Mrs Tweed said she decided to open her business after discovering many people shop outside of Deniliquin for fashion, accessories and homewares.
‘‘After a lot of research and hard work I thought it would be great to open up a shop to help locals shop local,’’ she said.
‘‘We’re now eight months old and it’s been amazing . . . the community has embraced us with open arms.
‘‘We try and help out with vouchers as much as we can to all schools, sporting events and other fundraisers that are on and sponsor the two local football/netball clubs.
‘‘Having the shop has also helped me become part of the Deni community and make lots of great friends.’’
