Murray Irrigation Limited marketing advisor Erica Laing is the 2018 Outstanding Young Employee, Trainee or Apprentice.
A new category in 2018, the award recognises an inspirational young employee, trainee or apprentice aged between 16 and 35 years.
Ms Laing started at MIL in 2016, bringing marketing experience to the role, having previously worked with the Deni Ute Muster as its marketing coordinator.
During her time at the Ute Muster office she also managed to complete a Bachelor of Business (Marketing), balancing her full time position with her studies.
In the nomination form, it outlined Ms Laing’s primary roles and her achievements in the past 18 months.
‘‘As a young employee Erica has the energy and enthusiasm to try new things and is always striving to improve current practices. She has high levels of interpersonal skills which help her communicate effectively with a broad range of people. This skill assists her ability to lead and motivate colleagues as well.
‘‘In 2017 Erica became project lead on a major project for Murray Irrigation — its website upgrade. This involved working with a group of six project participants over a 12-month period.’’
In 2016, Ms Laing was awarded an AMDA regional marketing scholarship which allowed her to complete a certificate in digital marketing.
