Drink driv­ing charge

A 31 year-old De­niliquin man has had his driver’s li­cence sus­pended af­ter be­ing charged with al­leged drink driv­ing.

Po­lice said they ini­tially tried to stop a car be­ing driven in Hardinge St, De­niliquin about 2.35am Satur­day for the pur­pose of a road side breath test.

They fol­lowed the car to west De­niliquin and it fi­nally stopped.

The driver was sub­jected to a road­side test which po­lice al­lege was pos­i­tive, with a blood al­co­hol read­ing of 0.120 later recorded at De­niliquin Po­lice Sta­tion.

Po­lice said as the man had a P1 li­cence (red Ps) his le­gal blood al­co­hol limit is zero.

The driver was charged with midrange pre­scribed con­tent of al­co­hol and his li­cence was sus­pended pend­ing an ap­pear­ance at De­niliquin Court.
