Redeyes are team to beat

Deniliquin Pastoral Times - - LOCAL CLASSIES -

Blighty’s Picola District Netball League record received its first blemish last week, but the Redeyes remain the team to beat heading towards finals.

Molly Cochrane’s troops let a late lead slip in a 43-all draw against Katunga, but the Blighty coach was not too concerned with the result.

‘‘That was a really good game and they really tested us,’’ Cochrane said.

‘‘We’re not too worried about it though, we didn’t really want to go into finals with too much of a target on our backs.’’

The Redeyes take on Mathoura in Timbercutter country tomorrow and Cochrane was expecting another tight game.

‘‘Mathoura will be tough; they were last time we played them,’’ she said.

‘‘The draw made us realise that we need to keep working hard, we haven’t been playing our best netball in the last few weeks.’’

Rhiannan Maxwell and Natalie Tremble have stood out for the Redeyes in the side’s past few fixtures.

In other local action the Deni Rovers will host Jerilderie tomorrow, while in the Murray League the third placed Rams host reigning premier and ladder leader Moama in A grade.
