Man breaches bail, cur­few

A 45 year-old De­niliquin man has been charged with break­ing bail con­di­tions, al­legedly fail­ing to abide with a cur­few.

Po­lice said the man was ar­rested on out­stand­ing war­rants ear­lier this month and given strict con­di­tional bail be­fore a court ap­pear­ance on Novem­ber 6.

Po­lice said one of the con­di­tions was a cur­few to re­main at his own home be­tween 8pm and 8am, and to present him­self to po­lice if they called by.

Po­lice said they went to the home twice in one hour at the week­end — at 11.40pm Satur­day and 12.20am Sun­day. Both times they say an­other oc­cu­pant told them he was not there. The man was even­tu­ally found hid­ing in the bed­room of an­other home.

Drugs charge

A 24 year-old De­niliquin man has been charged with breach­ing bail con­di­tions and pos­ses­sion of a pro­hib­ited drug af­ter be­ing searched in a traf­fic stop on Sun­day morn­ing.

Po­lice said the man was sub­ject to strict bail con­di­tions im­posed by the court on Oc­to­ber 2, which pro­hib­ited him from as­so­ci­at­ing with cer­tain peo­ple and vis­it­ing cer­tain homes.

Po­lice said they saw the man at one of the pro­hib­ited res­i­dences about 10.40am Sun­day, and al­lege he left the home in a car with a per­son who he was pro­hib­ited from as­so­ci­at­ing with.

Po­lice stopped the car a short time later to charge the man with breach­ing bail. In a sub­se­quent search, po­lice al­lege to have found a small amount of cannabis in the man’s sock.
