The Mecham family’s decision to return home each October for the Deniliquin Caulfield Cup Day Races has paid off again this year.

Pete and Liz Mecham returned to Deniliquin from Hamilton especially for the event, along with their children Isobel, Molly, Sam and Pip.

Liz Mecham went home with the Best Dressed Lady prize, with the judges particularly impressed with her spring floral inspired lace dress of greens and pinks.

She paired it with a matching headpiece she made herself and, due to the weather, a pink umbrella as an accessory.

Second in Best Dressed Lady this year was Lucy Horne.

Pete also came home with a prize, as runner-up in the Best Dressed Male section. While he tried to retain the title he claimed last year, it was won by Sebastian Liphuyzen.

The youngest of their brood, Pip, was second in her 10 and under category.

Rachel Braybon was the winner of the Contemporary Lady of the Day with Eliza Conallin coming in a close second.

The ‘Best Millinery’ award was claimed by Carla Armytage, for her flowery pink headpiece.
