Golf clinics for juniors
Golf is a great game, and beginners are being given the opportunity to learn how it is played thanks to a dedicated Deniliquin Golf Club member.
Former club champion Vince Kelly will hold his junior clinics once again, starting next Friday and running for six weeks.
Kelly will pass on his knowledge of the game with his experience in golf being beneficial for beginners.
The clinic will have two sessions with a 4pm to 5pm session for primary school children and a 5pm to 6pm session for high schoolers.
Cost for the entire six week course is only $10, which is paid when registering via the website www.mygolf.au.
Golfers must be registered before attending the clinics, and make sure you get in quick as numbers are limited.
Youngsters are asked to ensure they come along with sunscreen, a hat and flat soled shoes.
On course, Saturday’s A grade stableford event was won by John Radeski scoring a solid 48 points. Leigh Chappell was runnerup with 38.
Todd Marshall again showed his sporting prowess isn’t exclusive to the football field claiming the B grade win, on countback, with 41 points.
Felicity McCalman, also with 41 points, was runner-up.
It was a good weekend of golf for Marshall, teaming up with his brothers Tony and Sam and cousin Leigh Marshall to claim the win at the four person ambrose ‘Kiss Goodbye to MS’ charity golf day on Sunday.
On Wednesday it was Jamie Begg who stole the show in B grade, scoring a massive 45 points to finish in front of Ray Moye on 41 points.
A grade saw excellent scores too, with Steve Bindon winning on 42 points and Wayne Hodgson scoring 40 to finish runnerup.
The ladies played stroke on Thursday last week with Marg Radeski finishing on top with 68 net.
Marg Rothwell was close behind with her 69 net seeing her finish as runner-up.
In the clubhouse we are still seeking support from members for the Friday night raffles and Joker’s Wild. This has been a major night for the club over many years but numbers have dropped off a bit lately.
A lot of volunteer effort goes into every aspect of Friday night which is based largely around making sure everyone has lots of fun. So if you want a top night out, head down to the club tonight from 6pm. Thursday, October 18, ladies stroke: M Radeski 91-19-68, r/u M Rothwell 88-19-69.
