Di­vi­sion One pipped by Moama

De­niliquin Bowl­ing Club’s Di­vi­sion One Mid­week Pen­nant side had a close game against Moama in round eight of the Cam­paspe Val­ley Bowls Di­vi­sion go­ing down by four shots on Fri­day.

With one rink fin­ished and two on the green, a to­tal of four ends were left to be played.

De­niliquin had a lead of two shots but all four ends went Moama’s way giv­ing vic­tory to the vis­i­tors 82 to 78.

Jill Grimshaw’s team of Fay Mun­ner­ley, Brenda Leetham and Win­nie Pat­tin­son led the way with ex­cel­lent bowl­ing by all four play­ers on their home greens.

Pat­tin­son had a day to re­mem­ber and was ably fol­lowed by the rest of the team.

With a ‘seven’ on the third end and win­ning 16 of the 25 ends the fi­nal re­sult was an im­pres­sive 23 shots win to De­niliquin.

Fi­nal score, Deni 41 to Moama 18.

Linda Har­ris (s) team­ing with Joy McArthur, Lyn Smith and Max­ine Nor­ton were out bowled by their Moama op­po­si­tion and were only able to score one shot by the 15th end.

The Deni quar­tet ral­lied in the fi­nal stages to bring the mar­gin back to 24 shots at the end of the match.

Fi­nal score, Moama 39 to Deni 15.

Joanne Bovell (s), Jenny Tonta, Dawn McCul­loch and Toni Brooksby had a close game through­out with the lead chang­ing many times.

With no more than two shots sep­a­rat­ing the teams at any stage and De­niliquin be­ing two shots up with two ends to go losses of a ‘three’ and ‘two’ gave vic­tory to Moama by three.

Fi­nal score, Moama 25 to Deni 22.

De­spite the over­all loss, Deni re­main in third spot on the lad­der with five wins and three losses.

Di­vi­sion Two played Rochester at home for round seven of their sea­son, with the vis­i­tors record­ing a 20 shot win, 80 to 60.

Robyn Lit­tle (s), Bar­bara Berry, Lind­say Franklin and Lor­raine Tasker were the only win­ners for the home side.

Although trail­ing for the first half the lo­cals took the lead with a ‘three’ on the 17th end.

The home side scored on nine of the last 11 ends to fin­ish four shots in front when play ended.

Fi­nal score, Deni 22 to Rochester 18.

Mau­reen King (s), Ch­eryl Bradley, Aileen Kennedy and Loris Yates were 12 down at the sixth end but with mul­ti­ple shots scored on the fol­low­ing three ends, man­aged to close the gap to two.

With ends be­ing shared from that point the early losses were hard to cover, with Deni fall­ing to Rochester by five shots.

Fi­nal score, Rochester 28 to Deni 23.

Caryn Hil­lier(s), He­len Anderson , Tony Danck­ert and Rosie Jukes started the day well and led un­til the 12th end be­fore Rochester took over.

The vis­i­tors only al­lowed Deni to score one more shot over the fi­nal 10 ends card­ing a 19 shot loss for Deni.

Fi­nal score, Rochester 35 to Deni 15.

Deni are just one win out of the top four, sit­ting fifth with three wins and four losses.
