Buy A Bale supports farming families at Xmas
Locals have two opportunities to support the drought charity ‘Buy A Bale’ in the lead up to Christmas.
Soul Pattinson Pharmacy is looking for donations of non-perishable food items to help ‘Feed a Farmer and his Family’ this Christmas.
With the festive season fast approaching this will be an exceptionally harder time for farmers and their families.
‘‘We thought it would be a great idea to help,’’ pharmacy manager Liz Thurrowgood said.
‘‘Everyone is going through a tough time during this drought and any way we can help we will do it.
‘‘I have been through it myself and know what it’s like to live on a farm and deal with the struggle of a drought.
‘‘It means just grabbing an extra item when you are doing some shopping. I can remember not being able to buy luxury food items because we couldn’t afford it and the kids missed out. It’s just giving them those little things that really make a big difference to their way of life.’’
Unwrapped presents are also welcome as part of the campaign, with a separate donation bin located at the pharmacy in Cressy St, Deniliquin.
Deniliquin resident Faye Croft is also supporting the ‘Buy A Bale’ foundation by hosting a trivia night tomorrow at the Deniliquin Golf Club.
On the night you can expect classic trivia ques- tions, table games, challenges and a silent auction of goods and services, vouchers and cash donated from local businesses.
Tickets are going quick so get your team organised.
Today is your last chance to take advantage of the reduced ticket price of $15 per person. Tomorrow, tickets will be $20. Pre-formed teams are encouraged to book by the table.
Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Please bring your own supper.
For more information on the trivia night or to prepurchase a ticket, contact Faye on 5881 6716.
Deniliquin Soul Pattinson Pharmacy assistant Brooke Wilson encourages people to donate.
