A string of offences
A Deniliquin woman was in custody yesterday on a string of trespassing and break and enter offences from Monday and Tuesday this week.
As the PASTORAL TIMES went to print, she was still before the courts on 11 separate charges.
Five relate to incidents this week, and the rest were from offences occurring throughout November for which she was to appear in court at a later date.
Police said the woman was already on strict conditional bail relating to an incident on November 8, after which was arrested for alleged trespassing, aggravated break and enter with intent to steal, dealing with property that was the proceeds or crime and goods in custody.
Other charges from November include a break enter and steal from November 2 and trespassing on November 28.
This week, descriptions of the woman were provided to police by three different people, two of whom told police the woman was allegedly found inside their home.
Police are also still investigating whether the theft of a wallet from a staff member’s handbag at a George St business in Deniliquin on December 4 is linked.
On December 3, the occupant of a Russell St home in west Deniliquin heard the rear door at the home being opened about 9.15am. The male occupant told police that on investigation he found a woman standing in the laundry.
Police said the woman was asked to leave, and eventually complied.
The following day, police were called just after 8am when the occupant of a Davidson St home claims to have seen the same woman in her rear yard.
The occupant said she was woken a short time earlier by knocking on glass and then the sound of someone trying to turn the handle on the back door, which was locked.
Later the same morning, about 9.30am, the same woman was allegedly found in the hallway of a Wood St home in west Deniliquin by the occupant.
She left when instructed to do so, and the occupant later found a bottle containing $1 and $2 coins missing, as well as a quantity of $5 notes.
As a result of this week’s alleged offences, the woman has been charged with another three counts of trespassing, break and enter with intent to steal and break, enter and steal.
