Lynn to lead Golden Rivers

Long-time lo­cal box­ing trainer Roy Lynn will once again lead the De­niliquin-based Golden Rivers Box­ing Club for 2019.

He was re-ap­pointed as pres­i­dent at the club’s AGM re­cently, where all po­si­tions on the com­mit­tee were filled.

The club’s ex­ec­u­tive com­mit­tee in­cludes Heather Rose (vice pres­i­dent), Michelle Jones (sec­re­tary) and Jess Wills (trea­surer).

Rose will also serve as a pub­lic­ity of­fi­cer along­side Ri­ley Fo­ord, with Danny Barnes and Gavin Walker a part of the gen­eral com­mit­tee.

Lynn, who will con­tinue as head trainer, said Paul Johnstone, Jamie East and Travis Rochford will all con­tinue their roles as train­ers.

‘‘We wel­come two new mem­bers to the com­mit­tee with Gavin Walker and Jamie East join­ing us,’’ he said.

‘‘Gavin will help with fundrais­ing and has three young boys who have started train­ing.

‘‘Jamie will help train box­ers ev­ery Tues­day and Thurs­day night.

‘‘He used to train with me in the past and reached state cham­pi­onship stan­dard.

‘‘We thank Jessie Hol­loway for her time as trea­surer over the past few years, who will now step down due to in­creas­ing work com­mit­ments, with Jess Wills tak­ing on the role.

‘‘Travis Rochford will not only train our fight­ers but serve as our pro­moter for box­ing events next year.’’

The club will hold their pre­sen­ta­tion night at the Golden Rivers Box­ing gym at 7pm tonight.

Train­ing will con­tinue un­til the hol­i­day break-up on De­cem­ber 13, with train­ing to re­sume on Jan­uary 7, 2019.
