Church fun in holidays

-

The Deniliquin Uniting Church and Deniliquin Baptist Church have come together this summer to provide a program of school holiday fun.

The program runs from January 21 to 25 at the Uniting Church, on the corner of Edwardes and Poictiers Sts in Deniliquin.

For some local children it will be the final week of school holidays, with term one for eastern division schools starting Tuesday, January 29.

At western division schools — including all Deniliquin, Conargo, Mathoura, and Bunnaloo government schools, plus St Michael’s and Deniliquin Christian schools — term one starts a week later on Tuesday, February 5.

For each day of the United Church’s holiday program, activities will be held between 9.30am and 11.30am.

Susan Strong from the Deniliquin Baptist Church said children can enjoy activities like singing, games, craft, stories and skits.

‘‘We’re giving kids something to do in the holidays while teaching them about God through the activities,’’ she said.

The program is aimed at primary school aged children, and there is no need to prebook to participate in the sessions. Simply go along on the day.

There is a cost of $2 per session, per child, which will help with the provision of morning tea.

This is the 22nd year the Deniliquin Uniting Church has been involved in the holiday program. It celebrated the 21st year in 2018 with a Commonwealth Games themed week.
