Apply now for heritage funding
Applications are now open for the 2020/21 round of Murray River Council’s Local Heritage Fund.
Grant applications are open to individuals and groups looking to undertake heritage projects that will help conserve local items of significance.
Mayor Chris Bilkey encouraged organisations with an interest in protecting and celebrating local heritage to apply.
‘‘The funding is available to support conservation works and projects that provide sustainable long term heritage benefits to Murray River Council,’’ he said.
‘‘The local area is blessed to have a diverse range of local heritage — ranging from small artefacts through to buildings and structures that are the legacy of pioneers past — so I’d encourage interested applicants to look at the guidelines and see if their project might fit the criteria.’’
Priorities under the program include restoration or preservation projects comprising painting in period colours, repair and restoration of heritage features, the restoration of period front fences or other small conservation initiatives.
Guidelines and the online application can be viewed at www.murrayriver.nsw.gov.au/ community/grants/council-grant. Applications close August 24.
