Speed, weed seized

A 21 year-old De­niliquin man has been charged with two counts of drug pos­ses­sion and driv­ing while sus­pended af­ter a rou­tine traf­fic stop in De­niliquin on Sun­day.

Po­lice stopped a car in Harfleur St, De­niliquin about mid­night and checks re­vealed the male driver’s li­cence had been pre­vi­ously sus­pended.

Af­ter speak­ing to the man fur­ther, po­lice said they con­ducted a search of both him and the car.

Po­lice al­lege to have found a small amount of cannabis in the man’s pocket, and a small amount of am­phet­a­mines in his wal­let.

Po­lice said an­other small re­seal­able bag of am­phet­a­mines, com­monly known as speed, was found in the man’s car.

He was ar­rested and charged, and is ex­pected to ap­pear in De­niliquin Court on the charges.

Bail re­fused

A 39 year-old De­niliquin woman who was last week found in­side a De­niliquin home has been re­manded in cus­tody pend­ing an­other court ap­pear­ance.

Po­lice were called to a Char­lotte St home in De­niliquin about 3pm last Wed­nes­day when the owner ar­rived home to find a woman in­side.

The owner re­strained the woman un­til po­lice ar­rived.

She was ar­rested and charged with en­ter­ing a dwelling with in­tent to com­mit a se­ri­ous in­dictable of­fence.

She was re­manded in cus­tody to ap­pear in Grif­fith Court on Thurs­day, where she was bail re­fused un­til pend­ing an­other hear­ing this week.
