More water for Golf Club
The maintenance of Deniliquin Golf Club as a leisure and tourist attraction is again being supported by a water transfer from Edward River Council.
For the third year in the row, council will supply 200 megalitres of town water reserves to the club.
‘‘Once again, without the knowledge as to how the season is going to progress — dry, wet, abnormal conditions — what we do know is that we need to secure water to keep the tourist attraction in excellent condition,’’
Deniliquin Golf Club manager Norm Purtill said in a letter to council.
‘‘Prior to COVID-19 hitting in March 2020, we were on the way to one of our best golf years with visiting golfers set to exceed previous years, with some 5000 visiting golfer rounds.
‘‘We have 42 megalitres of high security ourselves and, coupled with Edward River Council’s contribution, we should have a bright, and positive future.’’
