U15s through to final
Blighty's Under 15s have booked their spot in the Picola & District League grand final following a nailbiting four goal win on Saturday.
The Redeyes came up against a tough Berrigan side at Berrigan with scores deadlocked at the final whistle.
Blighty held their nerve and played beautifully in extra time to run away from the Saints.
Final score, Blighty 28 to Berrigan 24.
The Redeyes will meet their rival Deni Rovers in the decider at Memorial Park this Saturday.
Unfortunately for Blighty both the Under 13s and Under 17s have been eliminated from finals.
The Under 13s were simply no match for an undefeated Deni Rovers on Saturday.
Despite a heavy 37 point loss, the game still saw an outstanding and determined effort from Gemma Macdonald and Katya Eddy.
The tenacious Ruby Caruso and Samara Watson worked tirelessly for opportunities.
The Redeyes should be proud of their sportsmanship and never give up attitude.
Finals score, Deni Rovers 40 to Blighty 3.
The Under 17s had a strong game against their Rovers counterparts, however it was the Rovers that finished on top by nine goals.
The Redeyes all came together to keep the score tight, improving vastly on previous 19 and 20 goal losses to Deni.
Blighty’s midcourters fought hard producing many turnovers, defence stayed strong and the shooters had their eye in, rarely missing the opportunity to score.
It was the last quarter that saw the Rovers get away in what was an entertaining game to watch.
