CHARITY GOLF DAY A HIT
The long weekend saw a big turnout for the Navorina Auxiliary’s golf day fundraiser, held at the Deniliquin Golf Club, on Sunday.
It was the first charity golf day hosted in Deniliquin since February, with various events being called off throughout the year due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Golfers rallied for the occasion with 107 players on the course for the ambrose event, braving the heat and strong winds.
The day also included a sausage sizzle lunch and raffle, and raised more than $3500.
Auxiliary president Shirley Willis said the day far exceeded her expectations.
‘‘We were and still are ecstatic with the day,’’ she said.
‘‘Last year I believe there were only about 60 golfers, so to have this kind of support is amazing.
‘‘The local sponsorship was also amazing, particularly with the current situation surrounding Coronavirus. We’d like to thank everyone that got involved for their support.’’
