Nominations for Murray River Council’s 2021 Australia Day Awards are now open.
Residents and community members are encouraged to nominate individuals or groups who have made an outstanding contribution to the local community.
‘‘Australia Day provides a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge those individuals who volunteer so much of their time to ensure community services, initiatives and other important activities continue to prosper across our council area - particularly during these times,’’ Mayor Chris Bilkey said.
‘‘It’s also a great platform to recognise individuals and groups who have made achievements in a range of pursuits including sports and the arts.’’
Nominations are currently being accepted in the following award categories:
● Citizen of the Year;
● Young Citizen of the Year;
● Sportsperson of the Year;
● Young Sportsperson of the Year;
● Community Event of the Year;
● Community Group of the Year;
● Arts/Cultural Award (person or group).
Nominations can be completed via council’s Your Say platform, www.yoursay.murrayriver.nsw.gov.au, and close on November 6.
‘‘Don’t be shy, if there is someone in your community or group that deserves a nomination, I encourage you to nominate them today,’’ Cr Bilkey said.
The awards will be presented on Australia Day, January 26, 2021.
