Phone scam
About 10.30 am Thursday a man, 70, received a phone call from an unknown person.
The person claimed to have accidentally deposited money into the man’s account and asked for it to be returned.
The man was told to buy iTunes card by the person and provide the gift card numbers to him, which he did.
On telling his son about the occurrence, the matter was reported to police.
Officers are reminding people to be vigilant of phone scams and speak to their bank regarding claims of such matters.
