A special choir performance will be held next month.
St Paul’s Lutheran Church Choir will bring its amazing collection of voices to town, with a concert by South West Music, to be held at the Baptist Church.
And the group will bring both heart and story to the community.
The choir was formed about 2008 when former refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi and South Sudan of the St Paul’s Church, expressed a desire to sing songs of faith in their own languages during regular Sunday worship services.
And from there it grew into the choir they are today, with regular singing in Kishwahili, Kirundi and English.
SWM concerts coordinator Dana McNally says having the group come to Deniliquin will be a wonderful performance to witness.
‘‘We are really excited to be having the performance given the growing interest in choir performances,’’ Mrs McNally said.
‘‘It’s a beautiful choir that no-one here has probably seen before.
‘‘They have a particular passion for singing, and it will be a chance to be uplifted and feel joy.’’
The group has given some incredible performances in its time.
While they consider their primary role to be serving the congregation each Sunday, the passion for singing and gospel has seen them perform at the State Library of Victoria, the Premier’s Gala Dinner at Crown Casino, the Melbourne Entertainment Centre, the Melbourne Arts Centre, the Shepparton Festival, and at numerous Emerge festivals and more.
And Mrs McNally says it is a chance to enjoy a choir experience that some may have missed amid COVID-19 restrictions.
‘‘People aren’t able to sing, but we can still have performers,’’ Mrs McNally said.
And the venue is set to be an excellent host for the occasion, with Mrs McNally thanking the church for its ongoing support.
‘‘The Baptist Church is perfect for an acoustic performance,’’ Mrs McNally said.
‘‘We love holding events there. ‘‘They continue to facilitate with us and provide lots of support.’’
The venue will allow plenty of room to welcome people under COVID-19 guidelines, with all plans to proceed at this stage under the current restrictions.
Those interested are also able to use their NSW Discover vouchers for the event.
