Whackers remain undefeated

Improved weather conditions resulted in improved scoring in round two of the Deniliquin Golf Club Premier League.

WOTAM captain Noel Swainger led from the front with a brilliant 41 points to help the team to a 144-125 win against COVID-8 .

It was a massive turnaround from round one for WOTAM, with the competitio­n’s highest score for the season so far.

Swainger was well supported by Butch Oddy, with 38 points.

Ross Taylor top scored for COVID-8 with 37 points, with Ian Fuller scoring 32.

Bush Whackers assumed their familiar top of the ladder position, as the only undefeated team to date following an easy 131-120 win over the Wedgies.

Peter Seely and Josh Hunt each scored 35 points to lead the Whackers, while Vince Kelly was best for the Wedgies with 32.

The Crackers and Eagles & Birdies played out a low scoring cliff hanger.

Sue Butcher led the Crackers with 34 points, with Jane Glowery 32.

However scores fell away from there for a team total of 117 points.

Grace Tiri led Eagles & Birdies with 33 points and despite the team not recording another score better than 29 points, the team total of 118 claimed the win by one point.

Old Boys secured their first win of the year with a 131-117 win over Water Wizards.

Scott Mildren, making his Premier League debut, top scored for Old Boys with 35. Another three players scored 32 points each.

Dylan Osbourne led the Wizards with 33

points, supported by 30 points from Lyn Bond.

Hit & Hope, 124, defeated TaylorMaid­s, 116.

Leigh Chappell top scored for the winners with 35 points, with the father-son duo of Ian and Lachie Campbell scoring 30 each.

TaylorMaid­s’ best was Prue Lloyd with 31 points.

Bush Whackers sit top of the ladder with two wins and TaylorMaid­s bottom with two losses.

All other teams have a win and a loss to start the season and are separated by percentage.
