Two issued bans

-

Two Deniliquin men have been banned from attending any licensed venue in the Edward River Council area for 12 months following a directive from the Edward River Liquor Accord.

Accord member and Murray River Police District Senior Constable Peter Joice said the men were banned for breaching the ‘patron code of conduct’.

The licensing officer said both have matters pending before the courts for alleged incidents at local hotels.

He said their banning notices serve as a reminder that you don’t have to be convicted for the Liquor Accord to take action.

‘‘One of the men, a 45 year-old from Deniliquin, has been banned for 12 months following an alleged assault on July 17,’’ Sen Const Joice said.

‘‘Another patron was seriously injured and required medical treatment.

‘‘A 37 year-old Deniliquin man has also been banned for 12 months for allegedly assaulting a staff member of a local venue after being asked to leave.

‘‘The Edward River Liquor Accord is serious about eliminating violent and antisocial behaviour.

‘‘If you are asked to leave a venue, you are obligated to do so.’’
