‘Cutters aim for big win

A spot in the Picola and District League finals is already locked in, but Mathoura won’t want to slow down any time soon.

With one last home-and-away game remaining before finals kick off, the Timbercutters mathematically could push as high as fifth with a big win over Katandra.

The ninth-placed Kats can’t make finals, having fallen two games out of the eight.

But they can make life hard for Darcy Robinson’s men.

‘‘The last round is always a bit funny, coming up against a side who probably can’t make finals,’’ Robinson said.

‘‘They can go in with a bit of an attitude, and say ‘let’s try and give it our all for our last game’.

‘‘And if you look at Katandra’s results throughout the year, they’ve been very competitive against really good sides. Again, it’s a really good challenge for us.’’
