School’s tribute to principal

-

Mathoura Public School paid tribute to a very special woman last Friday.

In honour of National Primary Principal’s Day, the staff sneakily accessed the school and prepared a lovely message for principal Janice Eddy.

‘‘Mrs Eddy, today we acknowledge and thank you. You are a phenomenal principal, educator and supporter of providing exceptional public school education to rural students,’’ it read.

‘‘Every day you strive to ensure that each and every student at MPS is nurtured socially, emotionally, and academically; you create a school environment with a culture of collaboration and community among MPS families and the wider community of Mathoura; and you advocate for and support your staff.

‘‘We, as a school community thank you, we see your commitment, we see your dedication, we see your passion and we are so very grateful.’’

The rest of us could not agree more.

They say ‘use it – or lose it’.

This is particularly so in relation to older Australians and the need for exercise.

Mathoura is fortunate to have exercise sessions available to locals each Friday.

Conducted by exercise physiologist Barb Anderson, they are held at the Mathoura Bowling Club from 11.30am until 12.30pm.

The cost is just $5 and an enjoyable experience is assured.

For any further information you can call Barb on 0401 256 233, or just rock up any Friday – you will be made most welcome.

Best wishes for a speedy extended to Sandy Davies.

Sandy suffered a heart attack last week and underwent surgery in Bendigo Hospital.

After several days of treatment in hospital she has been released to recover at home.

Hopefully she will be back on track really soon.

Have you voted in Deniliquin Legend Clubs Competition yet?

We have the chance to help our boys and

Toyota’s girls win $1000 just by visiting Deni Toyota in Davidson St, Deniliquin, asking the friendly staff for a token (or two) and placing it in the container marked Mathoura Football Netball Club.

The dealership is currently undergoing an upgrade, so when you visit avoid the front entry. Entry is from the side access, where the NRMA office is located.

Usually around this time of year, the Mathoura Preschool would throw open its doors for pre-enrolment open days.

However, COVID has thrown a spanner in the works for an official open day.

Nevertheless, parents of prospective students are just as welcome to call in and check out the facilities and what the preschool has to offer.

You will just need to call and make a time when you can meet the staff and pick up enrolment forms.

The preschool is open Monday to Wednesday from 8am until 4pm and you can contact them on 5884 3362 or email mathourapreschool@bigpond.com.
