Mathoura netball report:

- ~ Meg Saultry

Mathoura have missed out on Picola and District Netball League A grade finals by the slimmest of margins.

The Timbercutters needed several things to go right in their final homeand-away game against Katandra on Saturday.

The first of which was to win; but a four-goal loss to the Kats wiped finals off the table.

Final score: Katandra 49 to Mathoura 45.

Finishing the season in 10th, Mathoura fell short of Tungamah (who beat Blighty by 50 on Saturday) and Deni Rovers who took up the final two spots in seventh and eighth.

A slow start to the season was ultimately the killer for Mathoura as they looked to make up ground with a stronger back half of the season, while a draw with Picola United also hampered the side.

A eight-goal win over then ladderleader Katamatite in round 10 was arguably a highlight for the Timbercutters.
