Deniliquin Pastoral Times

Deni Rovers netball report:

-

A grade: Deni Rovers 38 def Rennie 34. Another tough win for the girls. A courageous nine goal turnaround in the second quarter saw the two teams tussle for the lead for the remainder of the game. With the lockdown announced at three quarter time, the girls gave their all in the final quarter to come away with the win.

Awards: Timbrr Firewood – Cara Meyer; Coach’s award – Sienna Jenkins; Central IGA and Deniliquin Jewellers – Edwina Barclay.

B Grade: Deni Rovers 27 def Rennie 19. It was a tough game for the girls, with the heat adding another dynamic. After settling into the game the girls found their feet and took the lead. Thanks to the juniors.

Awards: Timbrr Firewood – Rani Briggs; Olivia’s Lash Cave and Harry Pepper Coffee – Hazel Glowrey; Globe Hotel – Matilda Glowrey.

C Grade: Deni Rovers 56 def Rennie 18. What a solid four quarter game by C grade. Defenders stood tall, mid courters were quick and elusive and shooters were accurate. A couple of changes at half time didn’t alter the team dynamic, it only strengthened it. Finishing on top has set us up for a promising finals campaign, if and when it happens!

Awards: Total Bliss and Coach House Hotel – Sarah Purtill; Globe Hotel – Jemmah Conallin; Glow Beauty by Leanne – Prue Meharry; JCNRM Consulting Squad Award – Simone Lumbar.

C reserve: Deni Rovers 29 def Rennie 11. What started off with a slow quarter, one goal down, but finished strongly with an 18 goal win. Rennie came out firing, and the Rovers took a little while to combat that. The defenders Emma, Elena, Liv and Bree created so many turnovers that we had to use our toes to count. These turnovers were fed down the court seamlessly which our shooters converted accurately. Well done girls.

Awards: Globe Hotel – Emma Arthur; Keet’s Hair – Bree Brown; White Lion Hotel – Nikita Doyle.

Under 17s: Deni Rovers 28 lt Rennie 49. The scores didn’t justify how the game was played, but Rennie was a well structured side which deserved the win. Most girls didn’t give up until the final whistle, but if we want to go deep into the finals we need to switch on for the full four quarters. Bring on the finals!

Awards: The Crossing Cafe – Abbey Wills; Deni Driver Training – Elena Mulham; Josh’s Bakehouse – Matilda Glowrey.

Under 15s: Deni Rovers 45 def Rennie 21. What a game! Best team game of the season. Although the sun was not shining, the girls sure were. It was first on the ladder versus second, and the girls certainly stepped up to the challenge. Well done girls, we are so proud!

Awards: McDonald’s – Kate Westcott; Subway – Abbie Blake and Makayla Finn; Scoop n Brew – Erika Martin.

Under 13s: Deni Rovers 14 lt Rennie 18. The girls played really well. Very proud of their sportsmanship throughout the game. Well done girls.

Awards: Aria & Harper – Sienna Elphick; McDonald’s – Bae Willis; Subway – Matilda Dickie.

Under 11s: Not scored.

It was a fantastic end to the young Roos’ season with Lexi Hussey, Olivia Armytage, Zoe Bassett, Lily Boyer, and Stella Andrews proving strong in attack. The defence end of Phoebe Thomas, Harper Taylor and Nina Glowrey were solid and created numerous turnovers. There are no finals for u11s, so the team will celebrate sportsmanship, friendship and skill development at an end of season party. Special thanks to all our sponsors.

Awards: Aria & Harper – Zoe Harvey and Phoebe Thomas; Subway – Harper Taylor; McDonald’s – Nina Glowrey.
