Riverina competitors selected
The recent Deniliquin and District Carnival was a day of sport and achievement for local schools.
The carnival involved Deniliquin North, Deniliquin South, Edward, Mathoura, Blighty, Booligal, Bunnaloo, Carrathool, Conargo, Hay, Mayrung and Moama schools.
They came together at Deniliquin North School for the athletic competition.
It was a chance for students to showcase their ability and go head-to-head with their peers.
High jump, long jump, shot put, discus and 100m, 200m, 800m, 1500m and medley races were the activities on the day.
Hay was named winning school, but the age champions were shared among many schools.
Qualifying students will go on to participate in the Riverina carnival.
Originally scheduled for today, a new date is yet to be announced. Age champions:
Junior boy – Alex Giddins (Hay), 1; Bently Hardman (Deniliquin South), 2.
Junior girl – Matilda Eddy (Mathoura), 1; Emma Wettenhall (Deniliquin North), 2.
11 years boy – Lachie Campbell (Deniliquin South), 1; Max Hutchings (Hay), 2.
11 years girl – Bella Hillier (Deniliquin South); Jazz Warde (Moama), 2.
Senior boy – Luke Moorse (Mathoura), 1; Mathew Pitt (Deniliquin North) and Charlie ConnorHetherington (Deniliquin South), equal 2.
Senior girl – Savannah Emery (Edward), 1; Matilda Nisbet (Hay), 2.
Riverina qualifying students: North – Charlotte Gatacre, Emma Wettenhall, Jordyn Brain, Tynen Rothe, Matthew Pitt, Xander Strong and Amelia Smith.
South – Monique Crothers, Vivienne Thomson, Bella Hillier, Lachie Campbell, Darcy Johnson, Charlie Connor-Hetherington,
Talen Barnes, Chase Bartlett, Bentley Hardman, Nathan Coleman and Marlie Mison.
Edward – Savannah Emery, Laura Hayes, Isabella Goodear, Josh Goodear, Jaxon Ives, Haydn Sampson and Ollie Ives.
Mathoura – Matilda Eddy,
Georgie Taylor, Katelyn Eddy, Michael Krispyn, Luke Moorse, Chanze Egan, CJ Wilson and Sienna Toomey.
