Echuca mare Full Ahead finally gets a win

Full Ahead put aside her ‘‘non winner’’ tag to claim the Benchmark 58 Handicap (2050m) at Wodonga on Saturday.

The Echuca six year-old went into the race with just one win from 31 starts.

The mare was unplaced in four runs this preparation.

Full Ahead ($10) defeated She Zed So by a short head with Livvy Lass third.

She Zed So made a mid-race move to take the lead from City By Night but could not hold off Full Ahead in the final 100m.

Michael Cornish and Donna Gaskin train the winner which was ridden by Jason Maskiell.

Ojosan was the most impressive Wodonga

winner and more success awaits this filly.

Ojosan ($1.75), a three year-old, won the Maiden Plate (1200m) by seven lengths from Magic Typhoon with Malabar Jack third.

Patrick Moloney rode the winner for David Bourne.

Ojosan was second at Warracknabeal on July 5 at her only previous start.

Moloney completed a winning double on Dress Code in the Maiden Plate (1590m).

The mare is trained by John and Chris Ledger.

Chairman’s Choice ended a sequence of four minor placings with a decisive win in the Benchmark 58 (1100m).

The six year old trained by Andrew Dale and ridden by Jake Duffy defeated the $3.40 favourite Fast Sagrado by 3 lengths.

Several spring prospects emerged at Caulfield, notably Ingratiating.

The three year-old produced a last to first run in the Group 3 Vain Stakes (1100m).

He had seven starts in his first preparation for the two wins, second in Blue Diamond and Golden Slipper third.

The colt is expected to race again in three weeks.

Fillies to note from the Quezette Stakes are Gimmie Par, Heresy and Najmaty.

Follow - Heresy: Spelled after winning Adelaide Group 3 at her second start; went to the line strongly for Caulfield second when resuming.

Coming winners: Eagles Crag resumed with Sandown second to Follow selection Mr Brightside.

Turaath impressed at Flemington and more wins likely.

Najmaty was eye-catching fourth at Caulfield coming from last at 400m.
