Driver charged


A 41 year-old local man has been charged with mid-range drink driving after allegedly failing a breath test on Wednesday.

The man, who police recognised, was stopped driving in Napier St, Deniliquin about 9.30am and subjected to a roadside test.

It was allegedly positive and the man was taken to Deniliquin Police Station where a blood alcohol reading of 0.125 was recorded.

Staff call police

Police are investigat­ing after a man allegedly threatened staff at a government department in Deniliquin.

The man went in to organise a monetary payment on another person’s behalf, and when staff advised they could not process his request without speaking to the person he reportedly became aggressive.

Police were told the man started yelling and swearing, and making threats.

He had left the building before police arrived.

Shopper banned

A man in his 60s has been banned from a local supermarke­t after allegedly verbally abusing a staff member.

Police said the man had confronted the staff member about not wearing a mask.

Police have confirmed the staff member has a valid exemption.
