Full Ahead is on a roll


Winning has now become a habit for Full Ahead with two victories in eight days.

After one win in 31 starts the Echuca mare won at Wodonga and followed up with success at Wangaratta.

Full Ahead ($9.50) won the Rating 58 (2000m) on Saturday by a long neck from Lesmurdie with Fantasia’s Choice third.

The six year-old is trained by Michael Cornish and Donna Gaskin.

The win completed a double for jockey Jason Maskiell.

He won the Maiden Plate (1400m) on Beczkowski, a first starter trained by Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young.

The Tavistock three year-old scored by 11⁄2 lengths from Klondike Strike.

The Rhys Archard trained Honeywine ($14) was only a neck from winner Fizzar when third in the Rating 58 (1300m).

Daryl Archard claimed minor placings with Rokatta and Dente at Swan Hill on Sunday.

The $4 favourite Wasabi defeated Rokatta ($18) by 11⁄2 lengths in the Rating 58 Handicap (975m).

Rokatta had not raced since winning at Berrigan in March.

Dente ($4.60) finished third behind Hakuna Matata and Star Watcher in the Rating 58 (2400m).

Damien Thornton’s Swan Hill treble included two feature races, first heats of the Murray Mallee Sprint and Stayers’ series.

He joined forces with trainer David Brideoake to win the sprinters’ heat with Rossman and Maiden 1300m with Fiasco Tess.

His third success came in the stayers’ heat when Yulong Captain edged out Bainbridge after the pair went stride for stride over the final 200m.

Yulong Captain is trained by Ben and JD Hayes.

Coming winners: Great News was second at Randwick at first start since April; won five and not missed a place in 11 starts.

Alcyone, bred to stay, won at Sandown over 1300m at first run since October.

Atishu, New Zealand mare, was impressive at Randwick.
