Port Powers through to the preliminary
Port Adelaide Power has progressed through to the AFL preliminary finals after a convincing win over the Geelong Cats in Adelaide on Friday night.
Final score: Port Adelaide 12.14 (86) to Geelong 5.13 (43).
Deni AFL product Todd Marshall managed a few behinds for Power in the first and third quarters, but found the middle with a late shot in the second quarter to help his team find a comfortable gap.
The half time score had Port Adelaide in front 8.7 (55) to Geelong’s 3.8 (26).
Port Adelaide maintained a quick, handy and high pressure game that outdid the Cats at each turn.
It is the second year in a row Power has defeated the Cats in the qualifying round in their quest for a premiership.
Last year, Power were knocked out in their very next game — a preliminary against the Richmond Tigers.
Port Adelaide will next play on Saturday, September 11, at Adelaide Oval.
They will meet the winner of this
Saturday’s match between Brisbane Lions and the Western Bulldogs.
